Stand-up comic, writer, and connoisseur of all things brignorant (that’s a combination of brilliant & ignorant).
Full disclosure: When I was 18 and it was announced that Aisha Tyler would be guest starring onFriends as Ross’s girlfriend, I had a full-on Ray Lewis crying at Super Bowl XLVII meltdown because finally, FINALLY, there was a black person on the show. I mean, hello! It takes place in NYC, which is the melting pot of the world, so it’s only logical to have characters who look like they got their tan from their momma and not from a booth. But more than that, I was thrilled that Tyler was cast because she’s a funny, super-confident, and smart female comedian, and it was time she got on America’s radar. And since her stint on Friends, she has been working nonstop to stay there.
With starring roles in Ghost Whisperer, Archer, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, co-hosting CBS’ The Talk, writing two books, and now hosting the reboot of Whose Line Is It Anyway, which premieres tonight on the CW at 8 P.M. ET/7 P.M. PT, it’s clear that Tyler is not slowing down any time soon. Lucky for me, she took some time to chat about her ever-busy careers as actress, writer, stand-up comedian, and TV personality. Let’s get to it, shall we?
